What an IVF cycle actually looks like, week by week

An IVF cycle is a planned sequence of clinic visits and decisions — not a single procedure. Here is how a typical cycle unfolds at Vedaya.

Before the cycle starts

Your consultant reviews blood work, ultrasound findings and any prior treatment notes. Medicines, monitoring days and the approximate retrieval window are written down so both partners know what the next four weeks look like.

Ovarian stimulation

Daily injections encourage several follicles to grow. You visit for scans and hormone checks so the dose can be adjusted. Most people continue work during this phase; visits are short and scheduled around your day.

Egg retrieval

When follicles are ready, eggs are collected under light sedation. The same day, sperm is prepared in the lab. You go home the same afternoon with clear after-care instructions.

Fertilisation and embryo culture

Eggs and sperm are combined by IVF or ICSI. Embryologists follow development over the next few days and update you on how many embryos are progressing.

Transfer and the two-week wait

A selected embryo is placed in the uterus in a brief outpatient procedure. You continue prescribed support medicines and take a pregnancy test on the date your doctor sets — not earlier.
